Has anyone managed to successfully set up an exhibit on 123-reg?

I've asked support to confirm and reconfirm my details and resisted posting a thread up on here for a good few days, but I still can't get past the page http://www.joesheffer.com/ndxz-studio/install.php?page=2

I have read in various threads on this site that people appear to have been having problems with 123-reg. Anyone been successful in setting it up?

Aren't they a registration service? I normally only use registration services for that purpose and then get hosting on something else. The best place to find hosting is by asking your friends who they are using.

I also share the same issue. Perhaps its because we have to drag the files into the public_html folder? Does anyone know what the issue is. I would love to use Indexhibit. Please let me know if you have any clue.

Thanks

public_html is likely your root folder.

Thanks for the response arsondpi. I installed it into public_html as detailed, and amended the relevant permissions.

when I now try to go to install I get this script:

Internal Server Error

Directory "/websites/123reg/LinuxPackage21/pl/an/ta/plantaincollective.co.uk/public_html" is writeable by others

Any clues?

Ask the host...we are not the host. We don't know the real answers...all hosts are different. Ask the host where your files are (this is what you are paying them for).

No problem, I tried earlier but was on hold for a long time unfortunately. I was hoping that there would be others in the same situation (that have been through 123-reg) and have since resolved the issue.

All,

I've just had it sorted out by 123-reg. The root file needs to be 755 (permission attributes).

Great. They probably should have had it that way in the beginning - it's not something that Indexhibit is in control of.

milestimothy - my root file was 755 already.

http://www.joesheffer.com/ndxz-studio/install.php - I now get a warning which says "You need to delete the /ndxz-studio/config/config.php file if you wish to install Indexhibit"

Does this mean someone has solved my problems for me somewhow and signed me in?!

joesheffercom_489257_db2 is my Database name
ujoeshe_489257_2 is my username
cust-mysql-123-01 is the database server
xxxxxxx is my password.

Can anyone figure this out!

Edited by Vaska: don't post passwords in forums.

Have you talked to the host? Something is clearly wrong with the connection info, the database or other hosting issues. Others have clearly installed on this host in the past. We can't solve this for you...you are paying them to help you with your hosting.

And the exclamation marks should be used on your host...not us...not this forum.

The chaps at 123-reg obviously have a google scan or the like for topics on them! They found the topic, fixed the problem and sent me an email to tell me they'd done so.

Top service!
