I'm almost finished this site for my sister who is a talented illustrator. I like the balance between the minimal text and the illustration. Perhaps if you upgrade to V2.1 there is an excellent plugin that allows you to change text colour. My thought is if you mad the body text on the home page to 70-80% black it could work with the softer line work in the illustration
