paolodll / 2012-09-25 10:25:23

Hi,
anyone knows how to get a centered theme or horizontal menu on version 2.0?
is there a tutorial around? any plug-in release planned?

Thanks and Best

P

To get a horisontal menu, you only need to change your style.css. You can download this style.css and replace it with the one in your default theme. http:jonathangrevsen.dk/horisontal/…

Thanks very much Jonathan, i haven't installed yet but looking to your site (by the way cool layout) the menu open horizontally, how can i switch to vertical in a way that opens above the images? Because in my case maybe i would have a lot of links so i'm not sure that horizontal would fit very nicelly...

Thanks for sharing, great stuff!

I will try this and I'll let you know.

My site is in Legacy mode - but the style.css for download is for 2.0 - no problem.

My exhibits are still underneath the title of my page (my name), although the menu is horizontal. Is there any change that can be made to have the exhibits appear to the right of the main title? I tried changing the height of the #index thinking that it would push things to the right, but it just cuts them off.

jonathangrevsen / 2012-09-28 07:08:02

link?

jacoblindgren / 2012-09-28 23:39:43

It's hosted on my mac, but let me try and get a link for you this weekend.

jacoblindgren / 2012-09-29 04:21:24

My ISP won't allow me to host, but basically my exhibits appear underneath my "Pre-Nav Text". I'm using the style.css provided. Here's a screenshot: goo.gl/…. "Projects" and "Other" is what I've renamed exhibits to, and other is the renamed 'Main'.

jacoblindgren / 2012-09-30 05:19:39

How can I get 'projects' and 'other' to the right hand side of my name?

arsondpi / 2012-09-30 07:52:52

I'm not sure I understand well: "My ISP won't allow me to host"...
Which means that the site is not on a hosted server and that you're working on your computer?

jonathangrevsen / 2012-09-30 07:58:13

Hi Jacob. You need to play around with this - use Firefox and the extention Firebug to see how the page is build up. All of this is done in style.css. Ofcourse your exhibits appears below your name and the prenav area.

jacoblindgren / 2012-10-01 18:16:42

arsondpi - I am in fact working on my computer after having installed mysql, apache, php, etc. Telecommunications aren't the best in El salvador and I'm having a hard time in regards to my IP address when hosting...but once I make some more progress with my website it will be hosted on the internet.

jonathan - Thanks for your continued help. I will continue to mess about in style.css and see what I can do. When you say "Ofcourse your exhibits appears below your name and the prenav area." does that mean that 'by law' exhibits must appear below my name when using Indexhibit?

iamanthonio / 2012-10-02 19:30:58

First of all thanks for sharing!
But does anybody know how i can center my index, with the horizontal style.css of jonathangrevsen. ?

jonathangrevsen / 2012-10-02 21:25:39

Hi Jacob. No, I dont think the have to this by law, but I am not sure, what it is that you are seeking to do? With the horisontal menu, you have the exhibits below your menu now instead of by the side of the menu.

Iamanthonio: Sorry I dont know. You can ofcourse change the padding, so it moves further to the right of the page.

jacoblindgren / 2012-10-03 05:11:13

Hi Jonathan. I'm looking to have my menu completely horizontal, so it looks like this:

'My name' 'Exhibit 1' 'Exhibit 2' etc, etc.

But right now it looks like this:

'My name'
'Exhibit 1' 'Exhibit 2'

....as you can see by looking at this screen shot: goo.gl/…

jacoblindgren / 2012-10-03 05:11:58

In other words, I want it to look like:

"Jacob Lindgren" "Projects" "Other"

..but instead it looks like:

"Jacob Lindgren"
"Projects" "Other"

jacoblindgren / 2012-10-07 02:08:03

How can I get 'Main' and 'Other' to appear to the right of my name? jacoblindgren.info/

I think the best way to do this is to restructure the index.php of the default theme. But another way would be to add this to the style.css . Find where you style the index (#index ul) - line 62 or so and add this; margin: -25px 0 0 250px;
You should change the px to fit your stuff..

Cheers jonathan

You are welcome. Hope it works for you.

This isn't working for me :( zyanyalorenzo.com/portafolio/
I'm using indexhibit v2

raqui / 2012-10-13 18:38:40

Hi Jonathan,

I can't download your css style. The links doesn't work now ?
I'm so interested for an horizontal menu.

Thanks

MODUS / 2012-10-24 16:09:41

Hello everyone,

this worked for me:

webpublishing2.wordpress.com/week-six-3/horizontal-theme/

jonathangrevsen / 2012-10-24 17:12:17

Hi Raqui. I have removed the download link for the style.css - If you write an email I can send it to you, but I would recommend to wait for a release of a proper theme.

Vaska A / 2012-10-24 17:12:49

I don't really like that they cut and paste text and things from our site...

They don't even have a contact where I can tell them about this. Cut and paste, and no real attribution...

jonathangrevsen / 2012-10-25 07:15:30

They are linking to the style.css, that I had provided for people looking for an horisontal menu. I have removed it as you know. It would maybe just be easier to paste the altered css here in the forum, but it always breaks the code... need to learn how to paste correctly:-)

starlab / 2012-11-15 21:19:33

Hi Jonathan, I cut and pasted your css. I have a horizontal menu now but it is not centered. I tried to modify the margins in the /* styling the index */ paragraph of the css. Not sure if it was the right place. I wasn't able to come up with good parameters though. Any tip? Thanks

starlab / 2012-11-15 21:22:41

By the way, I think that a centered theme with horizontal menu offered as an alternative to the default theme would be greatly appreciated by a lot of people in the community, particularly now with indexhibit 2 (I tried a centered theme very popular in this forum but it's not working on indexhibit 2)

arsondpi / 2012-11-16 00:43:30

The Legacy themes are not working for version 2 out of the box.
They need updating...
Vaska is working on upadting themes and formats so let's "hold our horses"

starlab / 2012-11-16 01:09:24

Hi arsondpi, thank you. I understand what you say and I'm sure that Vaska will come out with something great as usual. However, I'm building my website right now and I'd be really glad to know when new stuff will be available for indexhibit 2 users.

Vaska A / 2012-11-16 10:09:58

I'm currently travelling and have very bad internet. I had somebody working on that theme but I don't know what the status is at the moment. Next week, I'll try to put up beta files...

This thread has been closed, thank you.
