Slideshow beta help

Vaska A / 2012-09-26 11:57:51

Hi Folks:

I'm looking for two or three capable people to help me with testing the latest Slideshow beta. I would like some feedback.

By capable I mean somebody who knows how to install a plugin, adjust options, have a small idea where something isn't right and also a good design sense. I'm not looking for people who will simply tell me "it's great".

Just send me a note...thanks.

I'm not sure if I'm asking too much but its been on my wish list for years now...it would be great if the slide show was made of frames that could hold things other than images, like text and movies. Is this a possibility?

Yes. And this is part of the fundamental change that was required for Indexhibit 2. ;)

Would love to have slideshow of images instead of 'over and over' for homepage.
Best,

How important is the counter for images? I still want to do this as part of a loader...

I've had some nice email from folks - I'm hoping to send this out to y'all really soon.

Thanks

Thanks to you.

Vaska, I'd say the counter would be integral to any slideshow, if not only for knowing how many is in a set, but also for ease of reference, very helpful for portfolio displays and client viewing.

Vaska A / 2012-09-28 15:21:38

thanks for the input. thinking...thinking... ;)

happy to hear more opinions about counters.

tomordoyno / 2012-09-28 15:27:33

counter would be great

..but, of course, it would be nice to have the option of hiding the counter. Some of us just want an automatic slideshow for a home page, for example.

Hi Vaska,

I'm also of the opinion that a counter is important for the same reasons that danwalne mentioned. However, an option to turn it off would certainly be a good addition.

I send you Vaska a couple of comments by mail... also, I saw just now a little bug in this slideshow beta: if you write an image title but the image caption is empty, the image title does not appear in the exhibit. If you fill the both fields, then works OK, both fields are shown.

I have not tried this new beta Slideshow, but for me some important things would be:

- Keep counters Image 1/10 (but not within the image. The image must be clean) - That when you click on the current image to jump to the next (in any part of the image) - That can put movies / gifs / etc .. - Having smooth transitions.

This to me is the basics.

arsondpi / 2012-09-29 14:10:47

ok - clicking on an image advances to the next image. But what if the next image is a video/vimeo/youtube media? clicking on it you make the movie to start, not to advance to the next image/media...

Vaska A / 2012-09-30 13:08:24

yes, i found a way that mostly works for advancing videos - it does advance to the next. i don't know if it's ideal though...something to think about (because people click on videos to start them).

oh yeah, maybe i should autoplay videos in that space...yeah...i forgot we could do that.

Do you have a timeframe for when the slideshow may be ready for use?

Best,
Tom

HI Vaska, I'd be happy to offer more input but the beta plugin will not work correctly, please see my email for details.

Vaska A / 2012-10-01 14:33:50

Sorry Dan, I don't have time to do one on one for this (that's what my note at the top is about) - just need to wait until we are finished.

danwalne / 2012-10-01 17:29:34

No worries, but this isn't an installation issue, perhaps someone else can help?

Please see tomairey.com/index.php/project/slide-test/

On load the first slider of three is showing, this is the first one that appears on cms, however it displays as number 2 of 3, with no functionality or load on the 'prev/next' navigation.

All files are in the correct destinations...

" php files go into /ndxzsite/plugin/
css files go to /ndxzsite/css/
and the js file goes to /ndxzsite/js/"

And I have checked for duplicates

Any ideas?
