1. Slideshow beta that you can find in the forum. We'll be finally releasing the official Slideshow this coming week. Yes, really. ;)
2. He is using Visual Index with permalinks. It's not Slideshow but it's quite close.
2. I'm trying to use that on my Around Golden Horn project and it doesn't work. It doesn't load the images. I can see only text when I chose exhibit format Visual Index on Around Golden Horn. Why's that?

Now it is set to Visual Index with permalinks and the images are not there, only the text.
Do you have the exhibit settings 'exhibit/media source' set to 'exhibit'?

Just out of curiosity did you try creating a new exhibit and reuploading the images? Will it show up there?
This is slightely off-topic, but I have been wondering what this "Media Source" is all about? And besides, I have only one option "Exhibit" all the time.
Media source is context aware (exhibit, section, main pages) and will give you additional options at the right place AND if the format has additional options.
It will also evolve over time but this won't have until next year...
Can it be because the whole site is not on root but in a folder on server?
oh, and the Visual Index works for Main but not for other 2 projects.

John, I'm sorry this is confusing, but you created your exhibits with exhibit links - they should simply be exhibits.
An exhibit link is actually a link to another page (via iframe).
You will need to recreate these pages as exhibits, then reupload the images.
Create > Exhibit...
