Hi,

I've enabled slideshow and set it up on my homepage (tomordoyno.com) but when clicking on Next/Previous nothing seems to happen.

Any help appreciated!

This:

1. <h1><FONT FACE="Helvetica" SIZE="1"><a href='/' title='TOM ORDOYNO'>TOM ORDOYNO</a></h1>

is maybe "breaking" your page.
Font face is obsolete - use css instead.
Find the h1 tag in your style.css and use attributes to make it to what you're after.
For example:

1. <h1><a href='/' title='TOM ORDOYNO'>TOM ORDOYNO</a></h1>

and in your style.css

1. h1 {
2.     font-size: 11px;
3.     font-weight: bold;
4.     margin-bottom: 1em;
5. }

I've tried but the only thing thats changed is the font size - slideshow still not working!

ok - did you upload all the files in the right places? Try doing this again - sometimes ftp cuts off.

yeah i've tried that still not working, is there any way to embed a slideshow in html looks like slideshow add on doesn't work for me

is there anything else which could be causing this dormant slideshow? has anyone else had similar problems?

Yes, there is - I've made note of this a few times around here but it is obscure and I don't think people could find it simply by searching.

I can see that the ajax helper script is not returning any results. It's either one of two things...

1. Make sure your /ndxzsite/plugin/ajax.php file has permissions of 644.
2. Your host has mod_security rules that are affecting it from working properly. Ask them if they are catching anything in the logs and have them adjust accordingly (this is unfortunately more common than one would think).

Keep us posted...

i've just changed the permissions to 644 on the files you suggested and my site has completely vanished leaving warning messages behind:

I have checked with the host but they could not see any issue related to the mod_security rules.

any ideas what could be preventing my slideshow from working?

First answer will be: check if files are in the right place and with right permissions.
Just to make sure, this would be 644 for plugin/ajax.php & for
- /ndxzsite/js/jquery.slideshow.js
- /ndxzsite/css/slideshow.css
- /ndxzsite/plugin/format.slideshow.php & plugin.jxs_slideshow
If this is it, yes. They are.

what about images? They upload direclty in exhibit, right? they are not uploaded into a jpg folder through FTP. Do permissions remain as by default?

From Vaska's post you mention (below), I understand it is common, but I don't understand what am I suppose to try to find when they send me a long query list like the one posted above?

Did you try fixing permissions?

644 for plugin/ajax.php & for
- /ndxzsite/js/jquery.slideshow.js
- /ndxzsite/css/slideshow.css
- /ndxzsite/plugin/format.slideshow.php & plugin.jxs_slideshow

I emailed green geeks copy/pasting Vaska's exact words from this post about mod_security rules, and they fixed something. Now it works.
Below is their answer. They changed /public_html/ndxzsite permissions to 755.
Now, inside that folder, /css, /default, /img. /js & /plugin are 755 [though everything inside is still 644 (including ajax.php) except base.css that is 755]

So yey! I am glad it works, but can someone explain why? I can't interpret those lines. what was wrong with permissions?
It would be good to know what was wrong and what to ask them to fix if it is a known or common issue for next people with same problem

Exactly what I said - permissions problem. You had weird permissions set on the ndxzsite folder.
