We need a better name...

Yesterday Dan and I were monkeying around with another project and when we got to using Slideshow we just couldn't do it one more time. So after 3 mins deliberation we came up with a very nice replacement that doesn't have the ugly (in my opinion) fade or the horrible z-index positioning issue.

It's called 'Click Switch' for the moment. Instead of clicking an ugly > you just click the image.

It's not new or so original...it's just very nice.

Anybody want to offer up more cool names?

Can't show it yet...not until after October 2.

Happy Friday everybody. ;)

Follow the normal instructions for installing exhibition formats...unzip this...put the file in your 'ndxz-studio/site/plugin/' folder.

Iwakami

This is not an official release so support will be limited...but it's working on my stuff.

Hahahaha! The plugins called Iwakami?
Wow... it kinda works.

I call namesake-"shotgun" on a plug-in that automatically closes your browser window just after you've spent 25mins typing something important.

nice! the thing is that for slideshows w. a lot of items I miss the prev. button.
on a side note, the horizontal highlight looks awkward if you use a transparent .png with a shadowed background, such as for website screenshots, etc.
otherwise, nice plug! :)

Hello,

This plug-in is very neat indeed. But how do I add something like "Click on the image to go the next one" next to the numbers. On the same line.??

Thx.

Nice plugin. Thanks!

Anyway leads on possibly creating transition effects like Slideshow had? Would love to incorporate a fade transition into this.

I think this is a great idea and would like to use it on my site. I have a couple of questions. I have seacrhed the forum for an exact answer but cannot find one.

1) I would like to get rid of the navigation above the images completely. Is this possible? and if so how can I do this?

2) How do I create a hybrid of both the Iwakami and Slideshow plugins, where clicking on the image moves to the next image while retaining the fade effect in between?

Please keep any replies in simple point format as I have just a basic understanding of HTML and know even less about PHP. Thanks, and sorry for my inexperience.

1) It is possible. Edit the code, removing the part that outputs the navigation

2) Open "Iwakami" in a text editor (who would have guessed it would ever be possible...). Do the same with Slideshow. Read the code. Take the parts you want and put them together.

3) Experience comes from trying...

This works great on Iwakami but I have a problem, I have three images on the page yellow, red and navy. When I open the page I get the first image and when I click through I get the second image, but then when I click on that image I just get a blank. How can I make it so when I get to the third image and click on it, that it brings me back to the first image?

The plugin relies on that information to change images(!) You can't just remove it... I looked too quickly, my bad.

You will need to rewrite the plugin show_image() function to make it work without using that information or you can maybe just try to hide it using some CSS (look up "display:none")

There's no quick fix for what you are trying to do it seems ;)c

Woops, I was going to fix that and re-release it...

You need to change BASEURL to DIRNAME in the plugin itself where 'getimagesize()' is at.

Can anyone tell me how I can customise the Slideshow plugin so that a next image is shown when the image is clicked.

I tried inserting this code from Iwakami into the slideshow plugin:

$x = getimagesize(DIRNAME . GIMGS . '/' . $go['media_file']);

        $off = ($i == 1) ? "style='display: block;'" : "style='display: none;'";

        $next = ($i == $total) ? 1 : $i+1;

        $a .= "\n

{$title}
{$caption}

\n";

But doesn't seem to work. . .

Yeah - no luck in the forum or with the developer of the slide Jquery. . .

I just need to know exactly which parts of the iwakami code to post into the slideshow plugin.

Has anybody tried this?

In that case. . . would it be possible to modify Iwakami so that it has a fade between the pics?

I think so...I know I did it at one point but I don't like the fades so I took it out. Something like change show() to fadeIn() and see what you get. It's a place to start at least...

Just curious - I've been having a tonne of problems with the img container div not stretching out the content div which I want to use as a background colour - it seems to be the sl div causing the issue in the original slideshow but is it related to the z-index code or the position: absolute?

Does this version solve these problems?

Up here at the minute - http://meltedsnow.net/indexhibit/

Eh? What is supposed to be happening here...I don't get it. I'm not sure I see a problem...

But, #img-container won't stretch anything out because of inheritance unless you force it.

Do you mean that you can the #content div to be the background color? I'm not sure this will work (plus, I haven't even peeked at your css yet).

You are using Slideshow...this thread is about Click Switch/Iwakami - which is much easier to adjust than Slideshow (and the reason I don't like it).
