Is it possible to install V2 in a subfolder and build and test there while keeping V0.73 live? I want to upgrade but I need to keep my current site up a running. Will it all work, don't want to install and break everything. Planning on doing a new install in the subdirectory.

Yes, absolutely - just as you describe. However, first install it to the same directory (but don't upload the v2 root index.php file or the files folders) and then you can move /ndxzsite/ and /ndxzstudio/ along with a duplicate of the /files/ folder to your directory.
Whatever you do...BACKUP before you do anything. ;)
