"You are already installed" message appears on first install

Hi!

I've tried searching through forums for similar error, however, no luck.

Issue:
First clean instal of Indexhibit 2.0 at jess.stereoj.am
Files - all good, uploaded on the server.
Permissions - all good, specified folders are 777
DB - all good.
Installation page - not so good.

If I try visiting jess.stereoj.am/ndxzstudio/…
I get "You already installed" message, while nothing has been installed yet.

If you go to jess.stereoj.am/ndxzstudio/, you get the login screen, yet I have not gone through the process of setting up admin yet. Default credentials didn't work (index1/exhibit).
I've tried removing all files and db, and doing a clean install, but get the same error.

Hosting with Dreamhost.
Let me know what I may be doing wrong, given that I tried clean install twice, I think the issue could be somewhere else.

I checked db, it's empty, no tables have been created.

Thanks much!

But I don't see any files whatsoever at the root of your subdomain - the .htaccess file might be necessary.

Subdomains can be tricky on some hosts but I'm pretty sure you can do this on DH.

  1. Any suggestions for htaccess?
  2. The one I have has just default code:
  3. RewriteEngine on
  4. RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR]
  5. RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d
  6. RewriteRule ^(.+) - [PT,L]
  7. RewriteRule ^(.+) index.php

Here is a screenshot of all the files, it's just content of default indexhibit.zip:
jess.stereoj.am/…

If you want I can put index.html so you can see the landing page, I just never had a chance to run through initial install - that throws me off, even though db is different.

jess.stereoj.am/

We see no files whatsoever - something is wrong with the subdomain itself. Perhaps it's not setup according to how DH wants things to be done?

Perhaps DNS needs to propagate?

Check this, I've added index.html to test if its viewable..
isup.me/…

I've setup the subdomain per DH requirements.

Something is wrong with permissions on the files then.

There is something wrong there, but I don't know what...

I've used 1.0 before for geordiewood.com and everything was fine.
I've purchased 2.0 hoping it would be as easy to use..
I just can't even figure out where to start troubleshooting it, as the issue is very unique..

The difference is a subdomain. Something isn't right - permissions on the files are wrong or something isn't right with their setup.

jessica-murphy.com/ndxzstudio/…

no more subdomains, the issue is the same.

issue on my end, close thread.

advise not to rename config file..
i've been doing it in habit from wordpress..

indexhibit saw that config was created, thought everything is installed.

appreciate your help regardless.

why would you rename it? i never would have guessed that's what was happening.

happy to hear progress...
