can't change the permission of 'config'

heloise / 2013-07-23 11:43:01

Hi,
first, thank you very much for doing all of this.
But as i'm kind of new with all this website stuff, i'm in trouble many time with all thoose steps!
The new error, wich was working before is:
I can't change the permission of 'config', it's wrote 077 and can't change it anymore,
plus i can't even open it.
Any idea about what's going on?
thanks
Best regard
Héloïse

Hmmm - apparently:

077: Assigns permissions so that only you have read/write access for files, and read/write/search for directories you own. All others have no access permissions to your files or directories.

If you can't set it to something else reupload/replace it.
If that won't work, I'd sent an email to your host and kindly ask for help.

thanks for your quick answer,
i tryed everything, reupload it, replace it, remove it, change it's name..
since i've change it's by 'fuck' i can get a new and normal one called 'config',
but i can't still do nothing with it, when i try to change permission it's
wrote this:

Réponse :    250 OK. Current directory is /ndxzsite
Commande :    SITE CHMOD 777 fuck
Réponse :    550 Could not change perms on fuck: Permission denied

and i can't also delete it..

And other thing,
i can't go to indexhibit installation passing by heloisebariol.fr/ndxzstudio/…
but only ftp.heloisebariol.fr/ndxzstudio/…,
with my webhost name and password.
And then i'm on a really strange page in wich one i can't choose my language or other stuff.
On this page there are codes and green Ok, and red XX..
so i can't go on with the indexhibit installation...
What do you think about that?

arsondpi / 2013-07-23 14:36:45

I suggest to contact your host cause your files are likely not where they should.
Ask them which is the root directory of your server and upload there.

heloise / 2013-07-23 14:59:16

Yep, it's what i've done.. waiting for an answer. Thanks again.

Hello,
It will be three day trying to install indexhibit in order to begin to build a website..
i encounter many different kind of problem,
when i try to go on heloisebariol.fr//ndxzstudio/…
it still doesn't work.
How can I know if i got the great configuration like:
- Apache server (not Windows)
- PHP 5 or greater
- MySQL 4 or greater
cause i've installed WAMP, Apache, Fillezilla.. and i uze mozilla
but how can i know if my folders are read by apache server or by windows server?
All my indexhibit folder seems to be on the root of my php database on my Ovh host.
Thanks
Héloïse

Can you verify with your host which is the root directory of your server?
Sometimes its called public_html or it may have the same name as you domain name.
It is better to ask your host about this and then move/upload the files/folders of Indexhibit there.

You ought to have access to the installation page from this address:
heloisebariol.fr/ndxzstudio/…
(there's only one / after your domain name)

heloise / 2013-07-24 13:20:48

Ok,
Thank you.
Am waiting for an answer about server and root directory from OVH.
Sorry but it was a typing error, i abviously tryed with
heloisebariol.fr/ndxzstudio/…
Anyway it doesn't work..

heloise / 2013-07-25 02:58:43

Hi,
I fell sorry but am going crazy with this indexhibit installation. Four days trying to do it... So please could you help me installing this on my webhost?
Thanks

It's very easy to install on that host.

Start over. Delete what you've uploaded and try again.

heloise / 2013-07-25 04:04:29

Ok,
I've upload, delete and try again many times.
I think there are stuff i don't understand.
Actually when i put heloisebariol.fr/ndxzstudio/… on the url
i got this:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /homez.744/larenard/www/ndxzstudio/install.php on line 25

Any idea about what could be wrong?
Thanks

heloise you need to somehow enable/activate php5 in your server.
In this case for this specific host yuo need to add a command line to your .htaccess file that ships with indexhibit (guide.ovh.com/…)
If you can't do this ask your host for help.

* at least you don't need to worry about uploading the Indexhibit files/folders to the right spot. :-P

heloise / 2013-07-25 07:08:23

Have allready asked to ovh and i gave me a code line to put at the end of the .htaccess code...
what i've done
i think a may have a problem with something in between the ftp server and the database..
something i probabbly don't know about.

arsondpi / 2013-07-25 07:18:19

ftp server and the database? But you haven't even went through the installation process.

My guess is that the htaccess file in your server hasn't been updated...
The trick here is to add the command line to the existing .htaccess file that came with indexhibit and then rename it from htacess to .htaccess (notice the dot in beggining)
This ought to make it work.

heloise / 2013-07-25 07:31:50

I updated it but anyway i've done what you telle me to do
except that the htaccess file hadn't any dot on the begining, so have make the inverse,
i put a dot, now it's named .htaccess instead of htaccess
end
end
end
uh uh it works!
thanks
