Database is not installed

suejeongka / 2013-09-24 16:33:03

Hi,
I had a problem while I'm reinstalling indexhibit on my server.
I followed all the instruction (changing code 755 to 777) but it is still not working.
I looked up other guys question who had the similar problems of mine, but still am not sure what's wrong with it.

I know which config file for it, but don't know how to fix it exactly.

Can you give me more specific advice?

Thanks!

Did you empty the database since you're re-installing?

suejeongka / 2013-09-24 22:47:10

Yes I did. Because I had some trouble before, I completely replaced it. I mean I made a new database in order to reinstall.

suejeongka / 2013-09-24 22:49:07

Does this make a problem? Do I have an old database? If I'll use an old database, which files I need to delete on MyphpAdmin?

Vaska A / 2013-09-24 22:49:45

What, "is not working"? What is happening here?

suejeongka / 2013-09-24 23:15:59

I'm not sure my language usage is very right or not, but I'll try to do my best.
I reinstalled indexhibit because I accidentally had deleted some files which made my web-site not work.

After that, there is a sentence
:database is not installed
showed up on my website.

I thought it might be because of my old database, I opened a new database, and reupload indexhibit via a new user and database. However, the thing I can only see on my website is "database is not installed."

What's wrong with it?

Vaska A / 2013-09-24 23:20:44

So, you installed Indexhibit and it worked, right?

Which files did you delete?

When it says, database is not installed it wants you to install. It sounds like you should do that - but you probably need to reupload your files since you deleted some of them (and do we know which ones).

suejeongka / 2013-09-24 23:26:39

yes, because I deleted some files accidentally (I can't not remember which one..), so I decided to reinstall everything from the beginning.

Then I deleted all my old files and just uploaded the entire indexhibit which is the same one I had downloaded on my new database.
I looked up others problem, and it is probably because of cogfig... but, I think my case could be different since my indexhibit worked pretty well before...

Vaska A / 2013-09-25 00:32:54

Yes, of course. This is why I don't understand that you are having problems.

You can't reinstall again? Something is not coming across to me here...

Have you tried manually creating a new config.php file? If the database is still there with the installation that worked it might do the trick.

suejeongka / 2013-09-25 00:40:36

Can you explain me how to create a new config.php file?
I read several posting here, but couldn't understand well enough.

When I opened it though textedit the things I can see are:

suejeongka / 2013-09-25 00:46:19

Oh.. when I copy and paste config.php, it doesn't show up. (maybe it can be read as codes?) And I deleted my old database before I reinstalled a new indexhibit.
another possibility is...my host may not recognize it... do I need to ask to delete my old database from a recycling bin to my host?

Vaska A / 2013-09-25 01:09:17

Which host are you with?

suejeongka / 2013-09-25 02:59:25

Dreamhost

suejeongka / 2013-09-25 03:28:16

I just got an email from dreamhost that they couldn't find any config file on my server, but I can see it via filezilla in the folder 'ndxzsite'
I really don't know what is the problem.. I even re-downloaded indexhibit from this site to re-upload it.

arsondpi / 2013-09-25 08:43:54

Yes but are the details updated in the new config.php file?

suejeongka / 2013-09-25 13:45:41

What 'details' means? how do I update it? can you give me an instruction?

suejeongka / 2013-09-25 13:53:23

I also just got another email from dreamhost like below:

Antonio M: I see the directory named 'config' but I do not see any file named
config.php . Perhaps re-running the indexhibit installation will create
the file ? If you have any other questions please feel free to contact

hope it gives a clue to fix a problem.

Vaska A / 2013-09-25 14:37:29

Yes. That means you need to reinstall.

suejeongka / 2013-09-25 14:52:11

I don't understand it.

As I mentioned you guys, I reinstalled it again, but I have the exactly same problem.
When I reinstall and in my config directory/folder there are:
config.example.php
options.php

No config.php anyway.
I can only see two of them, and nothing solved.

Vaska A / 2013-09-25 14:57:18

Do you have permissions on the /ndxzsite/config/ folder? It must not be creating the file. This works very well on DH.

suejeongka / 2013-09-25 15:00:24

I did. unfortunately. 755 to 777

suejeongka / 2013-09-25 15:14:49

I found another interesting problem. even though I changed permissions from 755 to 777, it automatically change 761.

Because of that, I changed it 761 to 777 again, but it seems to return to 761 again.
What is this?

suejeongka / 2013-09-25 15:17:52

this 777 to 761 happened in the 'file' directory. not ndxzsite/config

suejeongka / 2013-09-25 19:02:55

A good news. a dreamhost technician helped me and finally solved.
Thanks for you guys quick responses. it helped to explain what was wrong with my installs to them!
