Thanks to Ross Cairns who's guide helped me setup the expanding menus: http://www.rosscairns.com/downloads/
(we need more how to's like this) I've now installed it succesfully.
Are there any advanced options on how it can be edited etc. and how do I implement them?

Depends on what you want to do with it really.
The menu uses jQuery, a JavaScript framework.
If your up to the task, I'd check it out for 'more advanced' things you could do, or you could ask what you would like it to do.
Tutorial: collapsible menu is a place to start.
