Install.php problem

Hello, I was trying to install indexhibit on my site.
I have no knowledge of this kind of things, I just followed the tutorial (uploaded the files on my site using Filezilla, set the permissions etc.) but when I try to run the installation,I get 'Error 404 - Not found'.
What am I doing wrong? Thank you

What is your site? I'm assuming you are using v2?

It's not v2, the readme says it's from 2008. The site is of a friend of my dad, he asked me if I could get to install Indexhibit. It's silverbooks.it, I was told the starting directory is httpdocs so I placed indexhibit files there. Still, when I try to open silverbooks.it/httpdocs/ndzx-studio/…, it says 404 not found.

If httpdocs is the root directory of your server then your installation should begin here:
silverbooks.it/ndzx-studio/…
But it seems that the indexhibit files/folders are not in the root directory anyway...

Please, I don't know why it doesn't work, it's like the file isn't there. Could it have something to do with the permissions? I'm quite sure the files are placed in the root folder.
What could cause this problem?

no idea - two things to check for starters: is your domain name pointing to your server (check this withyour domain name registrar)?
is your root directory the right one? (check this with your host)

Yes, my domain name points to my server since other changes show up (I modified the 'home' page before trying to install indexhibit and the changes did show).
And yes, I checked to be sure and the folder where I put the files is actually the root :

ok then I would contact your host asap, because that error simply states that the files are not where they ought to.

I can confirm the files are there, I can download them from other computers through Filezilla...
