Editing the Visual Index Plugin Site Crash

juliejira / 2014-03-17 19:29:01

Every time I try to edit the Visual Index plugin, my whole website times out (i.e I can't even log in to my ftp)

Does anyone have a clue as to why this might be happening? I've changed the permissions but it still seems to block me for about an hour each time I try to save new changes to the php file.

What do you mean edit the Visual Index format? Edit the code?

The format would have nothing to do with your FTP.

It sounds like your server might have some mod_security issues.

Thank you! My server is looking into it now. It was happening every time I tried to save the code of the php file.

Crashing your site is a problem of something completely other than Indexhibit in that context.

err...yes, sorry...my ip needed to be whitelisted by the server. It had been a problem for weeks but I couldn't tell where it was coming from.
Sorry about the redundant post!

Let's be clear about that for users in the future - whitelisted for mod_security.

Hosts are happy to do this when alerted to the issue. mod_security has a bunch of really obscure rules that cause problems for many things (not just Indexhibit).

This thread has been closed, thank you.
