overlay / grow / slideshow not working

aaronzak / 2014-08-05 15:49:49

I'm having difficulty finding answer in threads as to why overlay / grow / slideshow plugins are not working. All are installed, etc, only on clicking thumbnail overlay and grow freeze on preloader wheel, and slideshow will not transition to next image.
Am I missing something? I found a newer version of slideshow files and installed them. But there must be a reason all three are not working.

What's your site?

It sounds like a javascript bunching up issue...

Problem must be common to all three plugins.

Yes, the problem is that your /ndxzsite/plugin/ajax.php file has the wrong permissions. It should be 644 or 755 - try 644 first.

ajax.php was 644. Tried 755 to no avail.
Tried changing permissions to 755 on grow.php / slideshow.php / format.slideshow.php to no avail.
I set whole plugin folder to 755 as well to no avail.

I realized I had modified config>options.php max image size while permissions were on 0644. Change took effect in allowing me to upload larger image files few days ago. I just changed permissions to 0755. Would that influence what's going on with grow/overlay/slideshow not loading?

Also, I edited config>options.php in offline version of file using dreamweaver, then uploaded this modified version of file to ftp. Permissions on file were 644 at time. Does this cause potential problems? I get now that you're supposed to change permissions on ftp then modify code from within admin panel. My problem with grow/overlay/slideshow persists tho.

No. If those didn't work try 777.

The ajax.php file is special and it reacts differently on different servers. I don't know why but servers need different permissions for it.

Put ajax.php on 777 but nothing's working yet.
If you have any other idea how I could solve this please let me know.

Try reuploading the files and permissions again - the problem is simply that the file isn't being contacted. We've seen this before and it's just a permissions issue (unless the file is damaged somehow).

Hello,
I am having the same problem, overlay and slideshow don't work for me (and have never worked with v.2).
I've tried the different permissions (644 / 755 / 777) on files and folders, I've deleted and re-upload the files, I also added the missing "z-index" to the css file as suggested in a previous thread, but it still doesn't work.

My website : visualyz.com

And I set this gallery to "Overlay" to show the problem : visualyz.com/portfolio/lheure-ou-la-nuit-blanchit/

Is there anything else I can try to fix it?
Thanks a lot.
