Hello-
I'm having trouble getting past the config settings page.
Keep entering my database server,
database name,
database username,
and password
and something is not entered correctly.
My hosting is through godaddy.com, which is a big company, perhaps someone out there uses them/knows whether there are any tricks to entering the right info. I've called them twice and they were helpful, but it's still not working.
I've read all the other threads about this too, it seems there is no standard!
Thanks so much

No tricks...I've done it. You need to ask them for the connection info if you don't know it.

Can I PM or email you what I'm entering to see if you can spot what I'm doing wrong?
They showed me how to set up databases and look at all their info/properties. It seems straightforward but obviously I missed something!

Did you ask your host? This information I will not know...didn't I already say this?

I know you said it before, really sorry, having the same problem as everyone else apparently...
I talked to them about it extensively, I can try again I guess. I thought the information they gave me was complete.
I know it isn't your responsibility to solve this!

I did an install on Godaddy a couple weeks ago for somebody...everything I needed was there.

Make sure you actually have a database first...it's all in the control panels.

naomi,

Hi i just went through all this. I hope I can help. So you need to find your CORRECT database info, which is kinda tricky to locate. I had similar entry's like the examples you have above. I called godaddy (which you should do if this doesnt work), and they pointed to my database info which if you have one set up is Hosting>Myhosting plan>Manageaccount>Databases> Mysql (icon)> then click on the pen icon to the right of your database name. Here you will find your database info.

Here is what you need

Exhibition name= http://www.yourwebsitedomainname.com

database serve= "host name" which looks like yourname.db.81743039.hostsource.com

database name= your name

database username= your name

database password= your password

hope that helps.

OK- It seems to have worked!
The problem was the database server info:
What ended up working when I entered it was, using your example above:
"81743039.hostsource.com"
On godaddy.com it's called: "host name"
So, if anyone has this problem in the future, substitute "host name" info when asked for "database server"!
Thanks so much-

Hello,

Before I stumbled upon this forum, I was getting an error message with the two little red x's because I was putting in all sorts of wrong info. I found this gem right here and I think I have the correct info in the requested fields... however, when I hit submit, it takes a long time to load and then the next screen is blank. No confirmation or anything. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Sounds like either your files didn't completely upload 100% or you have a bad database.

A bad database? What can I do fix this?

When I try the same thing in Safari, it says

Safari can’t open the page “http://www.ashleyisprettyclassy.com/ndxz-studio/install.php?page=2” because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection. This sometimes occurs when the server is busy. Wait for a few minutes, and then try again."

Does this help, or should I call Godaddy.com again?

Thanks!

Hey guys!

So I, unfortunately, with GoDaddy, am entering the information in the database information window as instructed in the above thread but am still unable to get to the next screen.

Host Name: shaneedelman.db.5608778.hostedresource.com
Database Name: shaneedelman
User Name:shaneedelman
Password: Xxxxxxxx

This is the information I am entering, as well as Exhibit name: http://www.shaneedelman.net

Help.
