Vimeo/Video Problem

pinguin / 2009-04-27 07:14:55

Hey Guys
Im trying to put a vimeo-embeded-clip onto my site and this works quite good. The problem is, if I want to include pictures with the "Thickbox"-Format they will always lay behind the video, but I want them (and the black fadeout-screen) to be on the uppermost layer.

You can see this happen at this link - the site is still under construction by the way =D
The evil Problem

Hope you guys can help me

They appear in front of the video for me, on Safari 4 & Firefox 3.0 on a mac.

I see it fine also in firefox and safari .... mac too
The images always in front of the videos .....

Opera mess it up... the thickbox #TB_overlay has a z-index: 100; so it must be a bug between opera, thickbox and object tags...

Damn it. I hate web =D
I am using vista and I tried my site with
+ Opera (Vers.: 9.64) -> not working
+ Firefox (Vers.: 3.0.9) -> not working
+ IExplorer (Vers.: 7) -> works

But nice to know that it is working on macs ^^

@ arsondpi
but it also happens in firefox (on my windows-machine)
I tried some different z-indices but I didn't get the result I want. Does anybody has an idea?

arsondpi / 2009-04-27 12:22:41

It's not happening in Firefox3.0.9@my mac.
This may clearly be a jquery+thickbox bug...

I found this updated thickbox script and this and this fix - I dunno... try them out (but keep a backup of your original scripts - this is important!).

My mac Opera still makes flash content to show up on hover - but comments on these blogs are positive so maybe you should give it a go... It seems that even adobe can't place DHTML on top of flash objects....

Maybe if you choose a diffrent kind of exhibiting?

What was I saying last night about Thickbox?

;)

arsondpi / 2009-04-27 12:59:25

Apparently DHTML over flash things is a general problem...
But ok - thickbox is not handling these things well.
...and yes you are right. :-D

Hi!

Can anyone please tell me how to add vimeo video to my site? Iv tried uploading the quicktime movies thru the files folder but its not working out...i keep getting a question mark. My videos are on vimeo so I hear thats an easier method. I cant seem to locate the correct code to embed. If anyone cud help me that wud be great. Thanks!

cruz / 2009-05-02 09:17:50

You do that in tools/embed this video in your vimeo account, you then just have to paste the code in your exhibit text window. It's as straightforward as that.

andy84 / 2009-05-03 19:06:17

Thanku! Can you give me the code? nothing seems to be working for me so i must be putting in the wrong code!

andy84 / 2009-05-03 19:13:09

Vaska A / 2009-05-03 19:53:17

What did you figure out?

Sorry for digging this old thread, but I have a very similar Problem.
I´m not using Vimeo or Flash, just a linked Quicktime file, but it´s also overlapping
the Thickbox. See:

I tried the fixes suggested by arsondpi- no success.
Can anyone help?

yeah well - if you read the articles I reffered it seems that it's more of a general problem/bug...
It can't be fixed as far as I know - someone else might have an idea...
You might want to check the flv players in the forum - see if they work...

This thread has been closed, thank you.
