Horizontal Exhibition Format

cannan / 2009-05-12 21:25:33

I am not sure how to install the Horizontal Exhibition Format plugin. It is the only plugin without installation and usage instructions. I use Filezilla.

Thanks in advance,

Hi Cannan,
you will have to install the plugin in the folder (as all the other plugins):
ndxz-studio > site > plugin

and that's it ...
;)

cannan / 2009-05-12 21:58:14

Hmmm... did that but still vertical. Do I have to change a permission (i.e. back to 777)?

Thanks...

paucc A / 2009-05-12 22:05:57

hmmmm ... you have to change the exhibition format in the exhibition edit window ....

Take a look at those movies, are very helpful!

http://www.indexhibit.org/help/

Concretely this movie talks about changing exhibition formats:

http://www.indexhibit.org/help/switching-exhibition-formats/

;-)

cannan / 2009-05-12 22:14:39

Tnx. I have installed it, but I have no new options in Exhibition Formats list to choose from. I'll try deleting the ap and reinstalling it. Shouldn't be this hard.
:@(

Vaska A / 2009-05-12 22:17:22

Go into Exhibits > Settings and make sure you are in Advanced Mode...then the options will appear.

It's not hard...

cannan / 2009-05-12 22:21:21

Thanks!

That was it!

tunis1 / 2009-06-15 09:43:24

tunis1 / 2009-06-15 10:17:35

No way! It doesn't work.
I installed a new indexhibit on a new database.
I didn't make any changes or other. I just insert a page to try the functioning of the Horizontal Exhibition Format plugin.

always the same errors:

I didn't found a solution... eheh...
but, finally I did my website on the vertical way! =)

nushkadolls / 2009-07-20 01:17:59

oh Tunis1 - I would hope you had an answer for this! I am having the exact same problem! I don't know what I did wrong! But I have 2 lines of that same error code running across the top of the page.

Has anyone managed to work out what causes this and how to fix this error?

My site is: Nushka Dolls

Thanks, Mel

velimh / 2010-03-31 13:54:09

Hi!

Still having the same problem as tunis1 had...

The page works fine, but it inserts those error messages in the top of the page before the images.

I found this link:
http://docs.phpcoin.com/index.php/I_see_lots_of_%22Notice:_Use_of_undefined_constant/variable%22_messages

and even that it doesnt have anything to do with indexhibit could this hiding of the errors thingie stated there also be used to solve this problem?

I Tried adding the error_reporting = E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE
on the .php file but dont know anything about php so obviously didnt work:>

Thank You!

rickykappa / 2010-03-31 19:33:50

@velimh - I guess nobody can even try to help you if you don't post your url

velimh / 2010-04-01 14:18:04

Ok, thanks.

Here we go: http://www.velim.fi/inprogress/100-cute-images-i-made-for-me/

rickykappa / 2010-04-01 18:01:40

sorry, I can't help... :-/
but why do you have another page using horizontal theme with no errors? what's the difference between the 2 pages? if you find the answer to this question I guess you'll solve the problem.

arsondpi / 2010-04-01 18:03:40

you could start by validating your page... and try Ricky's method...

velimh / 2010-04-01 19:10:00

The other page is using the crabs on a beach horizontal menu, but i guess it has some bugs?

velimh / 2010-04-01 19:30:04

arsondpi,

I cant really get anything useful out of the validator info... i havent touched the code myself so how can it even be invalid?

I could just solve this by using the crabs on a beach horizontal menu, but i think it's important to get a solution to this problem since many are experiencing it.

Thanks,
Veli

arsondpi / 2010-04-01 20:49:21

I did a web search: "Use of undefined constant" - part of the string that returns from your server.
Apparently you need to disable notices and warnings in the php.ini file...
In other words it has to do with your server setup... I would ask my host to do that...

velimh / 2010-04-01 22:16:18

Thank You!

Found the php.ini setup page on my host's settings!

It's all fixed now!

arsondpi / 2010-04-01 22:41:22

Great!!
:-)

mmachine / 2010-05-26 20:33:37

I've read this thread and to the best of my knowledge followed the steps. I've not been able to get the horizontal exhibit to work. Or for that matter any exhibit type other than standard vertical scrolling to work: no grow or anything else.

thanks

mmachine / 2010-05-26 21:42:11

ok so now I've passed validation, but my images no longer show up (instead it's a question mark)
along with the original problem of no change in exhibition type

arsondpi / 2010-05-26 22:57:43

...this means that the images no longer exist in the right directory. Maybe you deleted them?

mmachine / 2010-05-27 01:44:16

I see now that I should be uploading with the function at the bottom, labeled images. Before I was using 'file manager' which seems to do something different.

Any insight into the difference between the two upload techniques?

rickykappa / 2010-05-27 10:59:07

you need the 'file manager' to (help) upload files that you want to link to, such as .pdf or .txt and even to images, such as a logo image or any other image you want to display into a text.
moreover you might need it to display .mov or flash or mp3.
I suggest you to search the forum for more info

ericamattos / 2010-06-24 00:57:19

hi

I resolved my "Notice: Use of undefined constant media_x - assumed 'media_x'" just changing on line 52 of the file exhibit.horizontal.php

  1. $go[media_x]
  2. to $go['media_x']
natearm / 2010-08-07 04:26:30

I am new here and just beginning to set up my site. After installing the horizontal plugin in ndxz-studio > site > plugin , my images do not display horizontally when I select horizontal in the exhibition format. Instead, the url for the image is displayed where the image should be (see link below) The images display fine in the other available formats.

http://www.horseandcarriage.cc/index.php?/project/test/

Any ideas?

Thx.

rickykappa / 2010-08-07 07:25:06

reading the code of your page, e.g:
img src='file:///Macintosh HD/Users/nate/Downloads/" . BASEURL . GIMGS . "/3_lucy-38.jpg' width='600' height='599' alt='http://www.horseandcarriage.cc/files/gimgs/3_lucy-38.jpg'
looks like the system didn't work properly.
the images are there in the right place, but the img src path wasn't processed, therefore the browser is unable to find the image and shows the correct alt(ernative) text.
I'm not a php expert, but as a first step I'd try to upload a fresh copy of the horizontal plugin and see if things work as they should.

natearm / 2010-08-07 15:57:48

rickykappa-

It totally worked. I got rid of the horizontal plugin that I first downloaded, then downloaded a fresh one from indexhibit, uploaded it, and it worked! Thanks for the suggestion.
