I have logged in to the FTP program Fetch, and changed the various things such as the 777 and adding the '.'
Now I'm going to my php page which is annakeogh.com
And my page is blank!

Please help as I've checked everything in the FTP and it seems correct

Anna, are you sharing a site with somebody else? When I visit your site I seem somebody else site...that's a little odd. ;)

Either way, it's possible that it can work.

Did you install the database?

Your database will be different and separate from RT's.

i'm being a bit stupid but is the database the indexhibitv064 folder? I've downloaded that onto my desktop and tranfered it to my ftp...
um, what's RT?

The other site I saw...her initials. Maybe it's not a T. ;)

Anyways, the database is already on your website. If you don't know how to access it you should check with your host. They will give you the host, name, login and password or tell you how to obtain these.

Then, you go to the /studio/install.php file and proceed from there.

Ok, this is all chinese to me.
I think I may have deleted a lot of the things which were initially in the FTP, things like "_vti ...." ?
I then copied my friends into mine.
(Is there a way to get back my original "_vti " etc?)
Then I transfered the indexhibitv064 folder items to my ftp.

And now when I go to /studio/install.php it says the database is not installed.

I understant if you just say I should ask someone else, It's just really frustrating me!
Thanks anyway!

You don't need the _vt stuff...it's for things I'm pretty sure you will never need. You're doing just fine so far.

When I go to /studio/install.php on your site it says "find the database information so the fun can start".

You need to ask your webhost how to find your database information.

i have just contacted my webhost... What does the database information look like?
I have information about my SQL (host, username etc) and also something about phpmyadmin...

What does 'installing" the database mean? Do I have to download something?

Thanks so so much

Sorry, I try to avoid MS technology.

- you need PHPMyAdmin to create the actual database (or, your webhost has a way to do it in the control panel stuff)
- once you have the db created, you use the host, password, db name and username to install the tables (using the /studio/install.php file).

I recieved a reply from my webhost:

"The domain "annakeogh.com" have been reset.
This would restore the default files back
in your ftp.

You do not have to install your database.
We offer to use only one mysql database that
is by default created and connected to the
website and can be administered using phpmyadmin.

You may access your Mysql database (phpmyadmin)
following these steps:

1. Open a new browser window.
2. Type phpmyadmin.'your domain name' in
the address field.
3. A new window will open up prompting for
your username and password.
4. Type in your Mysql database username and
password that you had received in your Code
letter.
5. The space that opens up next is your database. "

So, I can indeed access this page, with the user and password they provided but what next?
They say you dont have to install the database but how come my php page still comes up as "database not installed"?

Ok, the database is installed...but the tables are not installed.

What is the name of your database? The name.
You now have the login and password for your database.
The only other thing you need is the database host (unless it's 'localhost').

Then, go to /studio/install.php and follow the directions.

the name of my database is annakeogh_com
And yes, the database host is 'localhost'

When I go to /studio/install.php it still says the database is not installed!
