hey,

there are two things i really miss.
the first would be a subscribe function, which can be found at almost every forum. i hate to check all the time if somebody actually replied to my topic.

the second would be an advanced search function.

i would be really glad if you guys could implement that.
i'm sure there are forum scripts out there that would acomplish that and meet your needs too.
for instance vanillforums looks quite nice and sleek.

1. maybe...i've done some work for it but our webhost is an issue with their email proxy so that kills things...we can't afford better hosting.

2. no, not vanilla. we all use Google for deep searches...

there is nothing better than that.

we would buy a license to implement the Google search into this forum directly but we get so few donations we can't afford that either.

the subscription thing is the thing i miss most here.
your host isn't a good choice for a forum this large. but obviously, you pay for what you get.

I'm not in here to grovel for donations...which is why i rarely ever mention it. Maybe I should, but it feels very very wrong.

i did find the donate button, but paypal won't let me donate in $, only in euro.

i have some dollars on my paypal account which i can spare, if you could add an dollar donate button...

Is this why hardly any people from the states donate (most of our donations are from Europe)? Weird...I dunno...don't want to think about it...

Vaska if you need better hosting why not just ask? I know I have a VPS that is severely under utilized, and I am sure others here likely have full blown servers we could put the site on. I am assuming you can see my email in my profile. Send me a message if you would be interested in moving the site to my VPS.

We'll have to see what happens in the coming months - right now is not a good time to be tinkering with things for us.

The result is an rss feed like that.

As soon as I get a chance I'll turn on the subscription system I've created for this forum. It will work for some people...others it will not. That's the frustrating thing about our email server at this host...

And, for what it's worth, part of the purpose of creating this forum ourselves was so that we could integrate things in the future and also release this forum as an Indexhibit extension. It just takes time...

So how can i donate in US dollars? I would love to but I only saw something for Euros. Is there a way?

I believe it simply makes the conversion...15 euros will be whatever the exchange rate is in dollars...

another thing that really bothers me. it's not easy to discover useful posts here.
there are a lot of 'help! ih is not workin!' posts, can't blame em, it's certainly not as easy as wp.
but it makes it really hard to get to the useful plugins/themes...
my point is, the forum is too minimalistic for that many posts. it needs a section where contributions go, updates via mail, edit option... phpbb, for example has useful features.
i like ih, but customizing it is a pain, i hope it can be as easy as wp one day.

just another (useful?) idea: what about grouping the user favorites in a new dedicated category?
