Install indexhibit some problems:-(

Hello all,

While installing indexhibit, I had some problems. I solved almost all but there is still one left. I got this:

"?? Set 'MODREWRITE' to 'false' in config.php...

OK /files folder is writable...

OK /files/gimgs folder is writable...

OK /ndxz-studio/config folder is writable..."

But I changed 'Modrewrite' via dreamweaver from RIGHT to FALSE!

Anybody got an idea why it doesn't work?

Thanks!

It's not in config.php...it's in defaults.php. Something we need to change on our end.

Otherwise, it means one of your database variables is not right. Check and double check with your host to make sure you have them correct.

I changed it in "defaults"

Sorry, I didn't understand what you meant with database variables...

Could you explain please?

Thanks a lot!!!

In order to install you need to know the database name, username, password...etc.

Hi Vaska,

it still doesn't work.

The database name, username and password, is this my FTP-login or the login I created on indexhibit.

At the beginning I had also a problem with the .htaccess file. If I let the file on my server, the indehibit log in (when you have to choose the language) wasn't shown, I had a internal_server_error.html. And if I delete it, the indexhibit log in worked, but then I have the problem with the "XX Please check your config settings again."

Thanks a lot!

Meike

No, it's not your ftp. You need to check with your webhost.

This part is almost undoubtedly not related to your htaccess file.

Ok, thank you! I took the webhost username etc.

But although there ist the problem left: "Set 'MODREWRITE' to 'false' in config.php..."

but I have done it!

Hey,

I tried it too together with a friend and her homepage-data, she is also using indexhibit and the same webserver (evanzo) and ftp-uploader (transmit) I use. Everything is working on her computer but not on mine...

Only difference: she has the .htaccess file in her folder and it works on her mac, but when I let it there I get the "internal_server_error.html", without I get the announcement "Set 'MODREWRITE' to 'false' in config.php..."

I am totally stumped!

I'm confused here...start over.

In your defaults.php file disable mod_rewrite by setting it to false.

Take the htaccess file off your server...delete it.

Do things work then?

Thanks Vaska but unfortunately it does not work! :-(

I disabled mod_rewrite via dreamweaver by setting it to FALSE in my defaults.php and I took the htaccess file of my server by deleting it.

Anyway I get:

"?? Set 'MODREWRITE' to 'false' in config.php...

OK /files folder is writable...

OK /files/gimgs folder is writable...

OK /ndxz-studio/config folder is writable..."

I would love that it works, 'cause I heard so much good things about indexhibit!

Are you 100% sure the database variables are correct?
Have you created a database using your webhost control panels?

Sorry, for not answering so long, but I was not at home.

Yes, I am sure that the database variables are right.

And of course I have created a database using my webhost control panels , and a folder with the same name in my ftp-uploader (transmit)

Thanks!
