Moving Built With Indexhibit?

Vaska - How (in layman's terms) would I move the Built with Indexhibit from the main homepage to another page - like on my contact page or About page? I know you said it was on the Template but I have no idea what to cut and paste where without taking a chance of ruining everything. I LOVE your site and don't want to mess it up. It is a great help and I want to give you credit for it but would like to move it to a different location if you don't mind. Thanks so much.

you have to erase those two lines in the index.php file located in ndxz-studio/site/your_template (sample by default)

<ul>
<li>
Built with
<a href='http://www.indexhibit.org/'>
Indexhibit
<a>
</li>
</ul>

And for adding a new link, you just have to add this line in your code :

Built with
<a href='http://www.indexhibit.org/'>
Indexhibit
</a>

This tiny line of code is the only way to give credit to Vaska for his work, so please add it anywhere but keep it !

I so totally want to keep it and give credit to Vaska b/c I feel he deserves it and it is such an awesome resource!! I just didn't like it being directly on the homepage. I will put it with my contact info and it will be sure to be seen. Thank you Simon.

You don't give him "totally" credit by putting the link in a contact info page, having it on the homepage is for me the best and obvious way.

But to each one it's opinion !

Well....I do believe you have a point but when I look at so many of the participants sites, they have done a lot of customizing and have moved the link and thought it makes the site look more professional and not like a "kit" site. Believe me, I wouldn't even be up at this point if it wasn't for indexhibit as I have had TWO web builders flake out on me and needed to get an online portfolio asap. I found a link to this application and the rest fell into place. I am VERY grateful for Vaska and his generosity.

I like the cleanness of this design and the plug-ins are very helpful. So far I have not gotten the link off and may or may not move it but wanted to understand how if I did. Thanks for the tutorial, Simon. You all are great helps!

Hi.

I don't want to rid Vaska of the link to his (and Dan's and Eloisa's) work, but I do want to re-word it. I can't find the file.

I work from the Eatock folder at ndxz-studio/site/eatock but I can't find 'Built with Indexhibit' anwhere—and not just within that folder.

Could you direct me—I'm lost.

Thank you.

I recommend switching yoru template set to Sample (and then make your changes)...the Eatock one is default...it's not really intended to be changed.

Hi Vaska,

Sorry to ask that one more time... but, it doesn't work...and i don't know what i'm doing wrong.

I want to keep your link too (yes, because i love indexhibit!), but not on the main page. So, i try to removed Built withIndexhibit

on the "index.php"'s file in "sample" then put on my ftp, but the address remains on the principal page. And I don't know how to make. sorry for that, I'm learning :-§ thank's!!!! :-)

You need to edit the template...yes? Are you sure you are editing the correct template set?

Hi all,

I can see this has been a popular/annoying question for you, so sorry to be redundant. But I can't seem to find the piece of code in my eatock index.php template file, nor in my sample index.php file for that matter.

Here is the code that's in my current index.php:

<%title%> : <%obj_name%>

Any help or suggestions for how to relocate the "built with indexhibit" line would be much appreciated. i love indexhibit.

You can't edit the Eatock template...switch to the Sample template or make your own set and edit things up.

I've removed the above-mentioned lines of code from my index.php file on my current template, and re-loaded that page back up to my site, but for some reason, the 'built by indexhibit' is still showing. Any ideas of why this might be?

Site here

You'll see the 'built by' twice. The smaller version I've added to the post-nav stuff, the larger version is the one I'm trying to remove, but can't.

Thanks for the help.

don't see it twice…
don't know if it's a real problem but don't put spaces in the name of your files (http://www.jessicakerollis.com/ndxz-studio/site/Test Run/style.css)

I have tried to do all of the following mentioned above.

When I go to edit

ndxz-studio/site/sample/index.php

in text edit, all I see is Built with Indexhibit

(which is a link)

I'm a bit new to this, so sorry for any redundancy but would someone mind laying it out for me step by step? (I plan to move the link to my cv exhibit)

thanks

seen a lot of times…
you need to open the php files with a code editor, not a text editor.
And you will see the code.
Magic !

When using TextEdit to edit code, goto preferences, in new document choose plaintext, in open and save, check ignore rich text commands in html files, you can also do this in the open dialogue box.
That's it.

So I open my index.php with TextEdit and I couldn't see the code simon showed.

the only I could see was:

• Built with Indexhibit

So I thought I had to delete that. I uploaded with cyberduck and then my whole page became : " • Built with Indexhibit " and nothing else

Then I tried to upload the original unchanged file back where it was but my webpage is still • Built with Indexhibit.

I am really really sad now :(
Does anyone know why this happened and how can I get my sweet webpage back?
This was the website: http://www.malinacailean.com

Thanks,

Ok I have found the problem. I put the index.php by mistake elsewhere than where I should have. Ooops... Please disregard my previous post. Thanks
