I'm no webdesigner, but finally managed to customize my site.

Feedback is very welcome:)

Simple and clean. It lets the work speak.
Good logo/signature and works. I would adjust the menu color to fit with the logo's grey. And your logo is not a "home" link.

Oh and… on the contact page, text is not aligned with the top of the menu.

Well done.

Thank you for great feedback lemathieu:)

I've adjusted the colour and the alignment of the text. At the moment the logo is a part of the actual background image. I haven't figured out how to insert it so it's a part of the menu yet, but I'll be sure to make it into a 'home' button when I do.

Thanks:)

You done good. Very nice work indeed (the web design and the photos).

Only criticisms:

- Your logo gets clipped in the blog section (mac os 10.4.11, safari 4.0.4)
- The 'personal' section is a bit thin (photographically)

Thank you Richard for feedback!

I actually noticed that the logo got clipped earlier today, so I'll be sure to fix that. I have to figure out how to make it a part of the actual menu, and not the background image.

You are totally right about the personal section. I have heaps of unedited work I'd like to put up, but until I've got it ready, I'll take it offline.

Thanks for the feedback :)

Cool, you've fixed it. (I love your front page image.)

One more tweak:

- the alignment of your contact details still looks slightly off. the first 3 lines are a couple of pixels too high. and the line space before 'built with indexhibit' looks wrong to me. this is all subjective, of course, but i think it could look neater.

hi andre,

i'm a photographer too and i'm in the process of creating my website. I remember asking you if you had in mind that your pictures could be drag to every reader's computer. Have you thought about that? It's obvious something i don't want to happen and i was just wondering if you have done some search on this...

regarding your website, it looks really cool, simple and easy to navigate. i would still like to share some thoughts:

1) I would just change the font of the letters, i feel not much business alike
2) instead of studio sittings, i would called this just studio. what happens when you have studio standing up's? know what i mean?
3) i would also create a new folder for the pictures you got published on press, with some information of the magazines.

hade,
J

forgot to say sth about the new folder for press. i think it's very useful to create one for selling your services for magazines. for every published story you need 3 or 4 pictures right? and it's great when editors know you can take the job, like your stories of late of the pier and the girls shot.

Hmm, I rather like that the tearsheets are mixed in with other stuff, and that there's no 'client list', 'download cv', or 'about' page... the fonts look good to me... attempting to protect images from downloading is probably a waste of time...

I'm seeing the same as you richard, and I've moved the menu one px up, and by my measurements it's totally lined up now, but it stills seems like the text is slightly higher. I think it seems like that because of the solid black text. I'll try to see if I can change the font colour and see if that helps:)

Really appreciate your feedback Richard:)

Joaonauman: I haven't messed with the fonts because I don't know to much about which fonts are supported by web browsers. I'm having a graphic designer friend look at it tomorrow though:)

I honestly don't worry about that people can drag my photos to their computer. If people want to save them for their own reference and such it's a really big compliment. The photos are still only web resolution and would look pretty shit printed. Funny enough a lot of photographers ruin their own photographs by sticking an ugly watermark on them. So my advice, don't worry about it:)

A studio sitting references to the act of photographing an portrait in the studio, and hasn't anything to do about actual standing or sitting. And a section with published work is in progress. Just have to do a fair bit of scanning first.
Thanks for your feedback!

Richard, I might have to put up a client and about section, but I was thinking about writing it on a sheet of paper, and shoot it as a still-life on my desk, and use the picture as a full background. New clients usually want to see a list of people and businesses I've worked for before...

Oh, you probably should have a client list... it's kind of normal and expected. I certainly felt that it was missing when I first looked at your site (together with an 'about' or 'bio' section). But then I thought that maybe it was intentional, and I decided it was nice and enigmatic. I think in general with an indexhibit photo site it's best to fill it up with loads of galleries and text sections, and then gradually prune it back until it feels right...

(With the Contact page, screengrab it, open it in photoshop, and drag out some guides - you'll see that the alignment is slightly out.)

Ah... the alignment of the contact page looks better now... yes, it would be better to change the black text to grey... how to highlight your links?... underline, maybe?

hmm, I'm really confused. I think the site must be displayed differently at different screens, because I've done a screengrab and put down some guids, and it's spot on!

I'll check it on a couple of other computers as well though...

ah, exellent:)

Yeah, I'll do underline. I'm gonna have to do some research to figure out how to change the text colour though:)

hi andre,
i'm a photographer too and i'm in the process of building my photo website.
I check your web and click all your links, works well and quick too. Now, I want to get to know you more and
I'm looking for your Bio or CV but did not find any in your main link. did you really intend not to put it in to your web site?
I'm just thinking that BIO or CV is very important too, especially when new client visit your web and want to check you out.
I know sometimes, it's so hassle to put all this private stuff but a simple will satisfy our clients. Sometimes they print out our CV together with our portfolio to show it to their big boss or Clients. (i don't know about the photo business in NORWAY)
Overall, your site is complete, very strong branding and recall. I'm sure you will still change as you go.
Congrats to you ! nice elegant images too!
Cheers!
