Hi,

I just finished the preliminary design work for my portfolio website.

Contents: architecture, photography, installations

Please take a look and let me know what you think!

Best,
Ben

PS Anybody know how to make the section and subsection titles remain RED when the page is active? Thanks!

Cool.
Just one thing : it's weird to see your name behind your logo.
But I like your logo placement.

Thanks lemathieu! I think you're describing the logo placement glitch I just fixed. Have a look-see.

it's nice, the only thing I'll remove is the opacity of the menu, it's so soft that's probably better to leave it transparent.

hey ben, put

  1. #menu ul li.active a { background-color: #xxx; }

in your stylesheet for colored subsection titles.

ups, copy/paste-mistake..

you need "color:" instead of "background-color:"

Thanks ilferroud. The subtle transparency is my favorite part. :)

The code worked perfect, nichtchris. Danke sehr!

only thing I dislike is the vertical scroll bars which appear on my 13" macbook screen.

jaydee: what would be an acceptable screen height? I might be able to wrench down some of the margins.

I wrote a response to this earlier today...I guess I didn't post it? Hmmm...

I didn't see your response, Vaska! Do you have any advice?

Try this link - it will tell you more about screensizes, content etc.

Yeah...sorry...I was so busy today. This morning, I typed up a note and then got sidetracked by a person I'm working with and I don't think I posted it...

I like your site...I like your works...

I think you could push the type in the nav more. I like the text graphic you have at the top but I want to see more great type like that in the nav. I also feel that you could use some subtle margins on things there (perhaps some margin-bottom on your ul's).

You might consider looking into typekit and see if you can find a similar (if not the same) typeface that you could use. Or Cufon...

Not much of a criticism really...just nudging you to take it a little further because it's not bad right now.

;)

I love the link, arsondpi! Thank you!

Vaska: I'll definitely look deeper into the nav type. Typekit looks like a great resource, and the free trial should be perfect for my site. Thank you for all the advice!
