I just discovered this - that if you change the image max size setting after you upload the images, the images don't reflect the change. Is this a bug, or does Indexhibit downsize uploaded images to the setting?

Indexhibit downsizes the images- so if you want a different size, you need to re-upload them.
Correct...you need to reupload them for different sizing.
We felt that people would get used to their sizes eventually and not need to upload them over and over...some experimentation early on would help.
However, we are looking into something much more robust to alleviate this issue. I don't want to make promises though as it could potentially be processor intensive in some situations and not really a viable solution.
