404 error - Browser doesn't display anything

betweenad / 2013-11-20 14:13:56

When I enter my website (ba-d.org) nothing is display, when I add "ndxz-studio", the browser says Error 404 - Not Found: The requested URL /ndxz-studio was not found on this server.

My FTP program (FileZilla) displays all the folders and files on the server, but the browser cannot connect to it.

I've already tried to run the "site-reset" but the same error is displayed, nothing happens.

Installing Indexhibit on my webspace I already had some problems. I installed it once (it got the message that the installation was successful), but I could never enter the ndxz-studio of my website.
I have also failed to reset everything back to zero via the FileZilla to start all over again.

Anyone who has a clue?

Because you deleted everything from your server?

betweenad / 2013-11-21 00:04:35

No, the FTP programm still displays all content of the indexhibit folder as online...

What is the folder structure?

betweenad / 2013-11-24 17:47:19

Sorry, I have no clue. What do you mean by structure?

Vaska A / 2013-11-24 18:06:49

The folders on your server.

The folder structure is not the problem. I didn't change anything, it's the way it's supposed to be.

The problem that in the installation (after successful DB credential entry) the site remains blank, nothing is happening. I cannot log in, there no such thing to enter user and PW.

ba-d.org/Indexhibit/ndxzstudio/

This could be caused by permissions - did you set 777 on ALL your files or only the ones we tell you to do so...

It could also simply be a failed installation - it happens sometimes.

Vaska A / 2013-12-04 19:59:16

And/or/even, it's possible that a file was not fully uploaded. FTP cuts out more than you might think.

You could try reuploading the 'ndxzstudio' folder ONLY. Don't mess with 'ndxzsite' right now...

* it is also advised that you name your subfolders in lower case letters ->
ba-d.org/Indexhibit/ndxzstudio/ should be ba-d.org/indexhibit/ndxzstudio/

okay, thanks a lot. I will try. But I've installed it three times now in different ways and that was always the same error. I had also sett 777 as permission - but could it be that the webhost doesn't allow this and blocks it?

Vaska A / 2013-12-05 11:21:24

would be the first host i've heard of that blocks installations...

i'm happy to take a look - send me your hosting login and ftp to

You'll need to give me a little time on this...

betweenad / 2013-12-12 16:04:03

Cool!
I talked to the webhost - they say the 777 permission shouldn't be a problem. But if there are certain php-variables required they might be blocked. Are there any of such for indexhibit?

What does that mean? Mod_security?
