Alternative to File Manager

Hi, I'm one of those who strongly miss File Manager in this new version of Indexhibit. So, the only way to manage/check what files you've uploaded and how many times in a hidden page (like Vaska suggests) is to access Cyberduck?

No not really. the Add files button does more than the Files manager.
What does seem not to work?

Hi arsondpi, well I can't find a list of the files I've uploaded to the website unless I go to my files folder though cyberduck...

arsondpi / 2012-11-16 08:05:55

But why do you need a list? Isn't all showing as "media" in your exhibit?
Keep in mind that you can hide media from your exhibit and insert them in your text area boxes.

Hi, sorry for the late reply on this thread but I must confess I am having a lot of troubles with Indexhibit 2.0.

This is one: when I upload a .jpg file as "media" in one of my exhibits it says "Error Empty file upload result" (this happens for any of my 5 exhibits except the "Main"). However, when I check my ftp "files" folder the .jpg is there. The problem is that I don't see it as "media" and I don't now how to work on it in my exhibit if the file is on my ftp.

Vaska A / 2012-11-28 18:08:37

How big are the files you are uploading?

starlab / 2012-11-28 18:19:50

139 KB

I can upload the same file as "media" in the "main" exhibit but not in any of the other 5 exhibits I have. I created a hidden exhibit to be used only to manage files and that's where I want to upload this file and after this many many more. So I need to figure out what I can upload and where I can manage all these files. That's why I miss the old File Manager.

Please let me know what you think. Thank you Vaska

Hi, I'm still struggling with the problem I described above. Anyone has tips?

Vaska A / 2012-12-19 17:20:45

There isn't an alternative (at this time). You just have to find a way...

starlab / 2012-12-19 17:41:53

It's still a mystery how some files could be uploaded only on the Main Page.

Thank you anyway Vaska

What? I don't understand what you mean...

starlab / 2012-12-19 18:14:56

when I upload a .jpg file as "media" in one of my exhibits it says "Error Empty file upload result" (this happens for any of my 5 exhibits except the "Main").

However, when I check my ftp "files" folder the .jpg is there, in the "gimgs" folder.

I created a hidden exhibit to be used only to manage files and that's where I want to upload this file and after this many many more. So I need to figure out what I can upload and where I can manage all these files. That's why I miss the old File Manager.

But it works elsewhere? That doesn't make sense. I believe you have a terrible browser or router caching issue...

starlab / 2012-12-19 19:20:08

It doesn't happen with all the files. I'm struggling just with one...the one I'm using as my website logo in the pre-nav
