Hi there,
it's my very first time using Indexhibit and I already got stucked with uploading images. Here's a link when it says "Error File is to big" but the file is actually just 227Kb: felixkindermann.com/ndxzstudio/

What's the difference between "Add Files" and "Upload" and do I have to put all images via Filezilla on my FTP or how dores all the stuff work out?

Thanks!

Hi Felix

Normally Exhibit accept only Image under 200Kb, But You Can Change it.

You need to go with your FTP in :
/ndxzsite/config/options.php

You need to edit the File options.php ( ctrl clic )
It's more easy if you use filezilla than cyberduck

When you are inside

Change this line: $default['maxsize'] = 200;
To something like this: $default['maxsize'] = 500;

It has worked very well for me.

Don't put a too big maxsize it can create some troubles with your servers.

Ciao

Hi Fermelelundi,

thanks for your help! I'll check it out.

But even 550Kb is kind of a joke isn't it? I mean all images I see on sites build with Indexhibit look great, sharp and large. So their size must be huge...! How does that work?

Thanks again!
Felix

Hi felix

An image on Web is in 72dpi and also in jpg in this condition ( 72dpi & jpg) the weight of an image is light.
You can feature that on photoshop. ( Image> image size )
When you save your picture on photoshop you can also choose le level of compression of the jpg.

For my web site images are 700px Width and they make arround 100Kb and 250 Kb.
ex: fermelelundi.com
Visite my sit and decide if it's enough for you, but I tell you my images are max 250Kb

I think If You want an image of 500Kb you can enlarge it until 1000px Width easily maybe more.

If you want You can change the maxsize in /ndxzsite/config/options.php and choose
$default['maxsize'] = 1000;
But I don't think it's necesserary and upload image with a too big size or weight can create some problems with your server.

No 550kb isn't a joke of a size - it's pretty big actually. If you optimize your images well it will likely be more than suffficient.

The larger you put that size, the more likely your shared webhost will have issues (it's a hosting limitation not an Indexhibit limitation).

Hi Fermelelundi,

thanks for your help again! I changed the file and at least I do not get any "Error" message anymore. So the file size seems not to big anymore.

But, even I see the upload bar now after adding a file, it does not upload the files but stays white forever...

Do have any solution for that problem?

Best,
Felix

What stays white? Do you mean when you click on 'Upload' nothing happens at all?

Felix_Kindermann / 2014-08-21 09:40:37

Yes, nothing happens!

Vaska A / 2014-08-21 09:59:20

Try clicking to the very far right edge of the upload button - does it work then? It's an old quirky bug that has came and went and came back...

Felix_Kindermann / 2014-08-21 10:04:27

The field itself turns little more grayish but unfortunately nothing happens when clicking on it...

Vaska A / 2014-08-21 10:07:08

Hmmm, can I login and check that? Send me your studio login...

Sent. Thanks!

Vaska A / 2014-08-21 10:24:08

I can upload when I click at the far right - you can see my test page in your studio. Which browser are you using?

Felix_Kindermann / 2014-08-21 10:30:53

Strange, I stiil can't! Using Firefox.

Vaska A / 2014-08-21 10:35:16

Which version? FF has been a pain - it's gone back and forth a few times being a bug and not being a bug. I was using Chrome for my test...

At least we know it is working.

Felix_Kindermann / 2014-08-21 10:39:27

FF latest version.
Chrome... Actually trying to avoid Google wherever I can... but at the end they seem to always win...

Vaska A / 2014-08-21 10:41:58

I understand and sympathize with that. It's just such a decent browser.

I'm thinking about how to get you and update for that one thing alone - I need to research my dev stuff (because I can't remember what the fix actually was).

Felix_Kindermann / 2014-08-21 10:46:51

Oh thanks, would be great!!! Waiting with patience...

Felix_Kindermann / 2014-08-21 11:07:57

May I ask two more things in the meanwhile (yes, I'm a real greenhorn with web-stuff, so sorry for stupid questions)?!

1) When I preview a category e.g. "About" it shows it's content the right way. But when in the studio it doesn't. How comes?
2) How to finally change from my current site to my Indexhibit content?

Thanks again!
